celtic festival luxembourg

International Celtic Festival

This weekend, we went to the International Celtic Festival Bealtaine, in Neihaischen, near Schuttrange, Luxembourg. It’s not the first time we visit it, as the festival reached its 8th edition this year, but this time I also took some photos: The kids loved it, as they had plenty activities to choose from: We almost bought some creepy stuff, but we decided not to redecorate this year: We watched the Celts at work: Or just chilling: And we went to see the gladiators fight, but I really don’t remember who won (they all managed to survive): While we were leaving, a …

Luxembourg Science Center

Luxembourg Science Center

Recently, I took the kids to Luxembourg Science Center, in Differdange. I didn’t know about this place but, as I learned, it’s a great science and discovery center for everyone, kids or grown-ups!   I really liked the fact that you can find activities suitable for all ages, from small children to adults. All discovery stations have complete, multi-language info on the experiments, so you will probably learn a few things while having a lot of fun! The little one took all the kinetic sand for himself, until I promised him I will buy a bag to play at home. …

snow in Luxembourg city during winter

Snow in Luxembourg

Snow in Luxembourg is so rare that each time I started to write this post the snow was already gone before I published it. Winters in Luxembourg are pretty mild, but every once in a while it starts snowing and, sometimes, we have proper snow for a few hours or days. Yet, in that short snowy period, Luxembourg city becomes a magical fairy tale land. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the snow this winter and, to me, it was one of the best photo sessions ever. Partly because it rarely happens, but mostly because the way …

Christmas in Luxembourg

Oh boy, oh boy, is that time of the year again, when Christmas comes to Luxembourg city! For those who haven’t lived here for long, let me tell you: besides spring, summer and autumn, winter is the best place to be in Luxembourg. No, not much snow here in the Grand Duchy, but usually from 23 November until 23 December, the city turns on the holiday lights and the Christmas markets open for a whole month of feasts and celebration. There will be 4 (yes, four!) Christmas markets in the City Centre, beautiful festive lights all around, an Ice Ring …

Schueberfouer Luxembourg

Schueberfouer

Schueberfouer has been around for almost 700 years. In 2017, it will be its 677th edition, between August 23rd and September 11th. It’s the biggest and oldest funfair in Luxembourg and some say it’s the oldest in the world, although this is questionable, as it was just a huge market at first, when it was founded by John the Blind, on 20th of October 1340. The shows, concerts and fun games only appeared after 450 years, in the 18th century, and the Schueberfouer was moved to its actual site, in the place called Glacis Square today (Fouerplaatz) – which usually …
