Art on Rue Philippe II

I saw a few installations on Rue Philippe II in Luxembourg City over the past years, but I never had the curiosity to learn about them. This month however, I got intrigued by the futuristic and rather unusual installation and I did some digging.

According to City magazine, those big pipes you can see above the street in the center of Luxembourg are called Air Deluxe and have been installed by HeHe, a French artist duo based in Paris (Helen Evans and Heiko Hansen).

The temporary installation was selected by Casino Luxembourg out of 7 shortlisted works. The concept is a metaphor for the fresh air, which has become a luxury product for many cities nowadays. I think it’s a brilliant idea and I wouldn’t have guessed what it was in a million years.

Funny thing is, while I was taking these photos, two girls saw me from the distance, stopped for half a second to pose for me and left right away. If anyone knows them, maybe they would like to have this picture, tell them to contact me:
